Q1. What are the Examination details?

Institute of Distance Education, Kalinga University conducts semester-wise examinations as prescribed by the UGC. The Semester-end Examinations for students will be conducted as per University Ordinance.

Q2. What document(s) do I have to carry for the Examination?

You need to carry your Admit Card provided by the University for the Examination.

Q3. How will I get my Admit Card?

Electronically-generated admit cards are issued to all eligible students appearing for the examination.

Q4. What is the scheme of Examination?

Both for theory and practical papers 70% weightage is given to Term End Examinations and 30% weightage is given to Internal Assessment.

Minimum Passing Percentage: The student must obtain at least 33% marks inclusive of Term End Examinations and Internal Assessment in each paper overall aggregate 36% Minimum is required.

Q5. What is the process of Internal Assessments?

Assignments are given to students on a regular basis for continuous assessment and feedback.

Our main focus is to evaluate the students’ performance through a robust system. Students are expected to complete and submit internal assessments on a regular basis, which aids in a better understanding of subject modules.

Internal Assessment is for 30 Marks.

The assignments form a part of continuous evaluation and internal assessment. Marks will be awarded based on the assignments assessed by the University. The assignments are designed to motivate the students to develop the habit of continuous study of all the subjects throughout the semester.

Q6. What is the Evaluation Procedure?

The University conducts examinations at the end of each semester in a year.

Students can appear in the examinations either for specific subjects or for whole programs provided, that the maximum period of study prescribed for the relevant program has not elapsed.

Q7. Why is the University conducting Examinations semester-wise? Why the annual mode pattern is not followed?

Q8. What are the steps to be followed in case of loss of Examination-related document(s) like Admit Card, etc?

No student is permitted to enter the Examination Centre without the Admit Card. In case of any last minute loss of Admit Card, students can request the Examination Centre to re-print the same.

Q9. What are the consequences of appearing in the Examination without the Admit Card?

Students are not permitted to appear in the Examination without the valid Admit Card. If it is found that the student has appeared in the examination without the Admit Card, then his/ her Result will be declared as NULL and VOID.

Q10. What is the duration for passing and improvement of scores of a programme?

Maximum duration for passing and improvement of scores of a programme shall be "Duration of the course + three years".

For example, for three year Bachelor’s Degree course, maximum duration shall be six years and for two years Master’s courses the maximum duration shall be five years.

Q11. What is Re-appear?

Re-appear means re-appearing in the failed/backlog paper(s). If the student is unable to clear the paper(s) in first attempt, he/she is required to fill up the re-sitting application in order to appear for the exams and clear the paper(s).

Q12. What if I fail to register for Re-appear in particular Exam Session?

In case you miss a chance to register for Re-appear in a particular Exam Session, the same can be done during the next Exam Session. However, this is applicable only for Exam Sessions during the maximum duration of your Programme.

Q13. Can reappear for a subject to improve my marks if I have already passed in it?

Yes.

Q14. What is Readmission?

A student is required to apply for Readmission when he/she is not in a position to complete the course within the maximum stipulated period.
